Johnston-Edgefield-Trenton Middle School (J-E-T) students participated in the South Carolina Consortium  for the Gifted Education cover design contest. Seventh Graders, Drew Sloan and LaDelle Yonce and eighth grader Breyonna Hillard all entered the cover contest and each of them walked away with a prize. “I cannot be more proud of their work and their accomplishments,” Avis Tuttle, art teacher said. The contest awarded a winner for elementary, middle, and high school students throughout the state.  Sloan won first place in the middle school division and fellow classmates Yonce and Hillard were honorably mentioned in regards to their art work.

Each student is enrolled in Ms. Tuttle’s Art and Design Honors Course and has created multiple pieces that are displayed throughout the school. “I am super excited to see the art work that all of my students will create this year. I love to see their faces when they complete something that they thought they could not do,” Tuttle says. The art students are currently gearing up for another project called doodle for Google.
