After six rounds, a winner emerged in the annual Johnston-Edgefield-Trenton Middle School Spelling Bee, held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.  Estefani Cortez, a sixth-grade student and daughter of Reginaldo Cortez and Sandra Tamayo, earned the title when she correctly spelled the word Angus

Other classroom champions vying for the title included Steven Page, Crooze Watkins, Rylan Muns, Gerard Glanton, and Joey Brooks. J-E-T’s media specialist Sarah O’Connell coordinated the bee. Cecilia Bryant served as the event’s pronouncer, and judges were Laurie Prince, Jessica Priest, and Gloria Jackson.

As the winner of the school spelling bee, Estefani received a trophy and a medal to commend her accomplishment and hearty congratulations from administrators, faculty members, and peers.
