Johnston-Edgefield-Trenton Middle School’s (J-E-T) student council is gearing up for the new year with innovative ideas and changes they would like to see implemented in the school. Current President, Tiara Bush says she is super excited about the upcoming election and the year in front of her. “J-E-T’s student body is ready for a change and I am excited to have the opportunity to help my fellow peers voices be heard,” Bush says. In the last student council meeting, Cecilia Bryant, the council sponsor, challenged the students to think about how the student body felt regarding the current school year.  Summer Williams, the current 8th grade representative spoke about writing petitions to administration regarding the new cell phone policy. “I truly understand why our administration has taken away the usage of our devices, however I believe that our cell phones could enhance the learning process,” Williams says.

Nominations for students to run for office will take place on November 15, 2018 and elections will be held in December. President and Vice President positions must be held by eighth graders and each grade level will have two representatives.
